Stonehenge Sunrise - reduction linoprint
'Stonehenge Sunrise' is an original linocut, printed onto Japanese HoSho paper.
I wanted to capture the effect of the sunrise at this special monument, how the sun aligns with the stones.
This is a two-layer print, meaning that the colours were printed first, with a graduated ombre effect for the sky, and then the stones and shadows were overprinted later. Due to the nature of the printing process each print will be slightly different, particularly with this print as the multi-coloured sky is effectively a monoprint and so each one is distinct and unique.
This is an open varied edition, signed by me as the artist.
