Lyme Hall, Cheshire - intaglio print
'Lyme Hall' is an original intaglio / etching print, printed onto Fabriano Unica paper.
We are very lucky to have this special place just down the road from us. It is an historic and beautiful stately home, with stunning gardens and 1400 acres of wild parkland. It was owned by the same family, the Leghs, for nearly 600 years, and is now owned & managed by the National Trust.
The South Front, overlooking the gardens and the lake, is an iconic and much photographed view. It will be recognisable to many as Mr Darcy's home, Pemberley, in the BBC's adaptation of Pride & Prejudice.
This print is an intaglio print or engraving, where the design in etched into a plate. The plate is inked up and then cleaned, leaving ink only in the grooves created by the etching. The paper is forced into these grooves from the pressure of the printing press, picking up the ink and giving us the finished print.
This is an open edition, signed by me as the artist.
